Save the date! The NISO Plus Global/Online conference will be held on September 16–17, 2026.
NISO Plus Global/Online, like its in-person Baltimore counterpart (held annually in February), brings stakeholders from across the information community together to explore shared challenges and identify potential solutions. Discussions will focus on generating ideas that could lead to future standards projects. (Previous NISO Plus conferences have led to our Communication of Retractions, Removals, and Expressions of Concern Recommended Practice, recently named a finalist for an SSP EPIC Award, and the recently announced formation of a working group on a recommended practice for trust markers.) For 2026, the NISO Plus Global/Online conference will carry forward some of the discussions and ideas from the February 2026 NISO Plus Baltimore meeting, especially those around emerging technologies and AI in scholarly communications.
Attendees of previous NISO Plus Global/Online conferences have praised the meeting for its inclusiveness, diversity of topics, and collaborative format:
“One thing I particularly appreciated about NISO Plus Global/Online was the emphasis on collaboration and community engagement. The event fostered an open environment where diverse perspectives were shared, allowing attendees to connect and discuss innovative solutions to common challenges in the information industry.”
Other attendees praised the “Mix and diversity of voices represented … types of institutions, expertise, discipline, and identities” and the “relevant and timely” content.
The NISO Plus 2026–27 Planning Committee is currently at work on the meeting program and looks forward to releasing additional details this spring.
