Our Planning Committee may be working hard on September’s virtual NISO Plus Global/Online event, but a subcommittee is already looking ahead to our in-person meeting in Baltimore! We’re opening the call for NISO Plus Baltimore proposals early to allow everyone enough time to submit an idea for our February 15–17, 2027 meeting in Charm City.

NISO Plus Baltimore brings together professionals from across the information community to identify shared challenges and brainstorming potential solutions. We invite proposals addressing a broad range of topics:

  • Accessibility
  • AI in scholarly communications
  • Measuring AI usage
  • MCPs and chatbots for researchers
  • AI-generated metadata and provenance
  • AI transparency and disclosure
  • AI tools and use cases
  • Cross-institutional collaboration models
  • Digital preservation
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion in scholarly communications
  • Federated identity and access control systems
  • Licensing and copyright
  • Metadata and persistent identifiers
  • Open access models and business processes
  • Open data
  • Open scholarship infrastructure
  • Peer review
  • Political and financial pressures on scholarly communications and infrastructure
  • Research integrity
  • Search and discovery systems

Topics not listed here are welcome! We want to hear about what’s important to you and your organization.

Proposals will be reviewed and assessed by the NISO Planning Committee. They will prioritize those proposals that offer a variety of perspectives, include multiple speakers, and encourage interactivity. (Please note that NISO Plus Baltimore is an in-person event, and we request that speakers join us on-site.)

Please submit your proposal by September 10, 2026. All submissions will be reviewed by the NISO Plus 2026–27 Planning Committee, and we will inform everyone of their decision by October 5, 2026.
