In case you haven’t heard, NISO Plus (Baltimore, MD, February 23-25, 2020) is a new — and different! — conference for the information community. Our goal is to bring together all the different stakeholder groups to focus on our shared challenges and opportunities through a combination of presentations and in-depth discussions, culminating in some concrete next steps for NISO and our community. So you won’t just be hearing from industry thought leaders and experts, you’ll also have the chance to engage directly with them — and with other peers and colleagues, customers and patrons — about the issues we all care about.

NISO Plus is relevant for people working at all types of information organizations across all functional areas — content managers, metadata specialists, product managers, and many more. Designed to facilitate conversations and problem-solving, it’s a place where everyone can discuss common issues and opportunities together. We’ll provide the space and resources for you to have the in-depth conversations needed to empower you to provide world-class information services for your researchers, both now and in the future.

So, following our opening keynote by Amy Brand, Director of The MIT Press, you can move between four different tracks. If you want to focus on the future, there’s an NFAIS Foresight track, where you’ll hear from strategic decision-makers like Ann Michael (CTO of PLOS) and Mark Hahnel (CEO and Founder of Figshare). For those who are more interested in the here and now, the NISO Now track includes experts including Lisa Hinchliffe (Professor at University of Illinois – Urbana Champaign Library) and Michelle Urberg (Metadata Librarian at ProQuest). There’s also a whole track of practical sessions on key information standards and best practices — from what’s happening with JATS and BITS, to data publishing and beyond — where you can engage directly with the people working on these initiatives, like Tommie Usdin (President of Mulberry) and Craig van Dyck (Executive Director of CLOCKSS. Last, but not least, the Extras track is where you can learn more about engaging with NISO, listen to – or participate in! – lightning talks, and more.

With something for everyone, make sure of your own place at NISO Plus by registering today – the early bird discount is good through January 15, 2020!
