The US Thanksgiving holiday is almost here, and this year NISO has a lot to be thankful for, including an amazing group of volunteers—publishers, librarians, vendors, researchers, and others in scholarly communications—who support our many standards working groups and committees as well as our education and DEIA committees. We’re also lucky to benefit from the leadership of our board of directors. We couldn’t do it without their commitment to supporting our mission to advance authoritative standards development through collaboration across the scholarly ecosystem.

This year we’re also grateful for our NISO Plus sponsors, especially those who have signed up to support our NISO Plus 2025 meeting in Baltimore. NISO Plus meetings provide a unique space for collaboration in the information community, and they would not be possible without sponsorship. Sponsor support also helps us to keep our registration rates low, especially for members of the library community, and to offer free or greatly reduced registration rates to students, retirees, residents of LMIC, and those who are currently unemployed.

Finally, sponsorship also makes our NISO Plus Scholarship Awards possible. Aligned with our goal of ensuring that our work reflects the diversity of the wider community, the awards program benefits early- to mid-career professionals working in scholarly communications who feel their views are underrepresented. Awardees receive networking opportunities as well as free access to NISO educational programs throughout the year, and we also hope to fund their travel to the Baltimore meeting in 2025. Many of our scholarship award alumni have gone on to leadership positions, including associate dean, library director, and even president-elect of the American Library Association.

So with that in mind, we offer our heartfelt thanks to our NISO Plus Baltimore sponsors: Bowker, CHORUS, EBSCO, OpenAthens, Project Muse, and Silverchair. We’re also grateful to Cadmore Media (our conference platform partner) and figshare (our slide repository). If you’d like to join this generous group, there’s still lot of time to enjoy the benefits of sponsorship! You can find more information in our online form, which you can also use to sign up. Those interested in sponsoring can also get in touch directly by writing to nisohq@niso.org. In the meantime, Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate! Stay tuned for our next post, which will cover the NISO Plus Baltimore conference preliminary program.
